HZGX 175 cruises through Niagara

above: Taken Jun.30, 2009, by R. Bobak - Herzog Contracting's elusive locomotive HZGX 175 MPM VII is seen heading west bound along the Canadian National Railroad main line between Niagara Falls, Ont., and St. Catharines, Ont.
This work unit, including a back hoe/loader that can travel along its consist of six shallow gondola cars, is an extremely versatile 'multi purpose machine', capable of a multitude of rail right of way maintenance and repair tasks.
Interestingly, locomotive HZGX 175 wasn't wearing the American flag emblem under the engineer's window which it was seen sporting several years ago.
